This summer I was lucky enough to earn an Area Manager internship position at Amazon in Tampa Florida. Having just wrapped up I would like to express how incredibly grateful I am for the experience. I have to give a huge thanks to my manager, Joe Mike, and to the frontline teams who let me shadow, ask questions, and try things. I truly learned so much following his mentorship. My main project was focused on making our shipping flow process smoother and more reliable by apply Six Sigma problem solving. This was all while having ownership of a team of over 100+ associates working on coaching new standards work on the floor, using dashboards/visuals to track issues, remove blockers, and keep everyone aligned. Thank you to everyone who coached me, challenged my thinking, and trusted me with real ownership. I’m excited to carry these new skills forward as I go into my senior year at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
